Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about PayCal, answered.

What is PayCal?

PayCal is an online payroll tracking and earnings visibility platform. It helps individuals track work hours, estimate earnings and deductions, and review pay periods using a calendar-based interface.

It is built and maintained by PayCal Technologies Inc., a Canadian company focused on secure, privacy-first software for workers and organizations.

Is it free to use?

Yes. The core platform is free for individuals. You can track work hours, view earnings estimates, review pay periods, and export your records — all at no cost.

Premium adds deeper personal planning, exports, graphs, and reports. Businesses that need shared member visibility, workspace controls, and aggregate payroll analysis can use the Business plan. Current plan details live on PayCal pricing.

What do Premium and Business include?

Premium is designed for individuals who want forecasting, spreadsheet/text exports, advanced graphs, and deeper personal reports. Business is designed for shared workspaces, member visibility, role controls, business reports, and aggregate payroll analysis.

Personal use on the free tier is fully functional and has no time limit.

Can I track and edit my hours?

Yes. The calendar view shows each day's recorded work. Click a day to open the Work Details panel where you can add, adjust, or remove entries. The earnings view gives a breakdown by month, pay period, and job site.

What languages does PayCal support?

PayCal currently supports 10 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Hindi, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Filipino (Tagalog), and Turkish. Language support is an ongoing area of work.

How is my data protected?

PayCal is built with security as a first-class requirement. Sensitive data is encrypted, session controls limit exposure on logout or context change, and authentication supports passkeys alongside traditional passwords. Access controls and rate limiting are enforced at the application layer.
